Holy Beatlemania – The Fab Four go to Gotham

Almost daily I’m amazed how pervasive The Beatles influence has been. Aside from the obvious clones and copycats, there’s oblique references like Terry Gilliam’s Monty Python animations and The Goodies music based slapstick skits. To even more obscure motifs like Chekov’s haircut in Star Trek (honestly! It really is based on a Beatles moptop).

And then there’s batty Beatlemania of Batman no. 222 “Dead Til Proven Alive”. The June 1970 issue based around the Paul is dead rumors, which sees the Dynamic Duo trying to crack clues – backward recordings, cryptic artwork etc, to reveal the rogue rock star. Fortunately the full story has been scanned in and is available to read here . It’s almost as bonkers as issue 133 of Daredevil which guest stars international “mentalist” Uri Geller in a walk on appearance.

  1. Cool story dude. And as you know I don’t like the Beatles.

I’m sure I remember seeing the White Album in the Marmite Music Library

I’m afraid not. I’ve got the Whitey Album bt Ciccone Youth though.

I have to confess to owning The Magical Mystery Tour and Help though.
